AutoCloser FAQ

Problem: Unit not autoclosing.

Solution: Check wiring from Autocloser unit to garage door opener. The wiring at the Autocloser unit should be attached to the terminals labeled ‘NO’ (normally open) on the Autocloser unit, NOT the terminal marked ‘GA’. If you cannot find the terminals marked ‘NO’, make sure that you have removed the fluorescent warning label on your Autocloser unit. This label MUST be removed for correct installation.

Problem: Unit not autoclosing, and beeping every 20 seconds

Solution: Unit has gone into permanent disable. This usually occurs when Autocloser has tried unsuccessfully to close the door three times. This is normal operation and was designed to ensure that personal property is not damaged if there is an obstruction blocking the closure of the door. To return unit to normal operating mode, push the disable button.

Problem: Unit will not go into disable mode.

Solution: Was the unit already beeping, indicating that it was going into the closing procedure? Once in closing mode, the disable button must be pushed twice to disable the unit. If the unit is not in closing mode (no audible beeping is heard) it is only necessary to push the disable button once to go into disable mode. The first press of the disable button during the closure warning beep restarts the close timer giving the user additional time before the door starts the autoclose procedure again. The second press of the disable button (unit is now no longer in the closure mode) disables the unit.

Problem: Unit will not beep when in setup mode.

Solution: Reflector may not be aligned with detector. Try putting your hand directly in front of unit while in setup mode. If the unit beeps, reflector needs to be realigned. If unit does not beep, your power supply may be faulty. Contact Xceltronix for warranty service.

Problem: After the warning beep, unit closes door only part way, reopens and then closes all the way.

Solution: This is part of the normal operation of an Autocloser unit, and not a malfunction. The partial close of the garage door is an additional safety feature. Combined with the audible warning beep, the partial close provides an additional visual warning that the garage door is about to close.
